Elders:

Our authority is given from the bible. Hebrews 13:17 references how we are governed as a church. Our elders are dedicated men who “Shepard the flock”.

 1 Tim 3:1-13 and Titus 1: 5-9

 

Jim Vermillion
Jim was brought up in the Southwest Church of Christ in Blue Island, IL where he was baptized at 12 years old. He served in the Army from 1967-1970 spending 20 months in Southeast Asia. When he was discharged, he attended the Park Forest Church of Christ in Matteson, IL. In Park Forest, he met and married his wife, Eddie in 1971. Jim also served as a Deacon and taught the junior high Wednesday evening bible class. In 1987, he and his family moved to the area and placed membership at Crystal Lake. Jim served as a deacon from the early 1990's-2002, until he became an elder. He teaches Bible classes, preaches from the pulpit and manages all the church finances. Jim and Eddie have raised two sons who are now both faithful members of the Lord's church.

 

Randy Illg

Randy has been an elder for 15 years and a baptized Christian for 42 years. All of his years of service to the Lord has been served at the Crystal Lake congregation. A Veteran of the US Navy, Randy served aboard the USS Boston in the Vietnam conflict. He is a retired, college professor emeritus and a local business man. His love of the Bible has brought a highly valued perspective of biblical knowledge. He served as a deacon before accepting the role as an Elder. Randy frequently preaches, leads Bible studies and plays a vital role as an Elder at His church. He and his wife Linda of 54 years, live locally and are proud parents and loving grandparents.
